Are
you insured?
Yes, I am insured
through Pet Sitters Associates LLC.
During 28 years of painting clients' homes, I have never made a
single insurance claim! I am continuing this trend with pet sitting.
My present insurance covers not only your property, but your pets.
|
 |
What
kinds of animals do you care for?
Dogs, cats, herps,
ferrets, "pocket pets" like hamsters and sugar gliders,
aquariums and ponds, birds and some farm animals. I have also owned
rabbits, chickens, ducks and goats.
I have little experience with horses but can refer you to an
excellent sitter who regularly cares for equines.
|
 |
Why choose a pet
sitter instead of a kennel?
While you're on
vacation, your pets will be more comfortable in familiar
surroundings! Most animals - especially cats - are very stressed
when boarded. Additionally, you will have the added security of
daily home checks, plant watering, snow shoveling, trash out, poop
pickup, etc.
|
 |
Will
you do occasional "as needed" visits?
Sure! I will make every
effort to accommodate you and your pets if you are working a long
day, have to leave home unexpectedly or decide on a last minute
"up North" weekend.
Daily vigorous walks are a great stress-reliever for younger and
high-energy dogs. "A Tired Dog Is A Good Dog." Older
dogs who may not be able to comfortably hold it during your long
work days will appreciate a potty relief break. Puppies benefit from
day time potty breaks too - this will hasten housetraining.
|
 |
What if my dog has some
behavior problems?
I am experienced with
"challenging" dogs. I will reinforce any training you have
implemented, using only *positive* methods - treats, toys, lots of
affection.
Please let me know if your dog has a history of aggression or biting.
We may be able to work that out but it will require at least one trial
visit, which will be paid for at the regular rate. Most dogs who
aggress do so out of stress, and it takes them a little longer to get
used to new people. If I feel I cannot safely handle your dog I can
refer you to some very good boarding and care facilities.
|
 |
How
will you handle my house key?
I require two copies
of your house key. In case one breaks or gets locked inside your
home by mistake, I will always have a backup key which will be kept
secure inside my home. If at any time you wish to discontinue
service you will get both copies back. My insurance covers lost keys
and re-keying your locks in the highly unlikely event both keys get
lost!
|
 |
What
about medications, supplements or special diets?
Sure thing! We will
go over any special needs at the initial consultation.
You will sign a vet release form in case of medical emergencies and
I will keep that along with your veterinarian's contact info.
|
 |
What
if you have car problems or cannot get to my home?
I have two vehicles
and a bicycle. :) Seriously, in the event of an emergency preventing
me from visiting your home, I have a friend and associate pet sitter
in Oakland County who can fill in for me. If this is a concern, I
can put you in touch with her.
|
 |
What
is your payment policy?
I accept cash,
checks, money orders and credit cards through PayPal. For extended
absences, payment is due at start of service. Regular and ongoing
clients will be billed monthly.
|
 |
What
can I expect on my return?
Contented pets happy
to see you, and a clean, secure house. I will leave a daily written
log of how your pets did. I can email you photos in your absence,
too. If you have any special requests, let me know!
You will need to call me on your return so I know your home and pets
are being cared for.
